2025 Social Security COLA: Estimated Increase for Beneficiaries
The Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2025 is projected to fall between 2.6% and 3.25%, influenced by the CPI-W (Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers). The official number will be disclosed in October, after the final data for July through September is collected.

COLA is determined by comparing inflation from the third quarter of both years. In 2024, the COLA increased benefits by 3.2%. Mike Lynch of Hartford Funds expects the 2025 COLA to reflect moderating inflation, likely within the low 2% range.
