To get started, the first thing that you will have to do is to either import an already existing wallet or create a new self-custody wallet. To import an existing wallet, you need to use a 12-word recovery phrase either from the Coinbase wallet or from any other wallet provider.
If you do not have the mobile app downloaded already, you will have to follow the steps mentioned below:
● Create a new wallet.
● Check and accept the Privacy Policy.
● Click the user name and then you need to check your privacy preferences. This is an essential step as this is how the wallet users will be able to find you and send you the payments.
● Opt for the security method of your choice- This can either be biometrics or a passcode. Biometric authentication would be the better choice.
● Take a backup of the recovery phrase. This recovery phrase is very important for your wallet. You will therefore have to keep it safe. Without this, you will not be able to access your coin base wallet and coinbase will not be able to recover it for you.
● Select the “Manually” or “back up to cloud” option.
● For Cloud backup, you will have to set a password. Like the recovery phrase, you will also have to keep the password safe.
● If you choose to take a manual backup, you will see the recovery phrase displayed in front of you. You can either write it down or you might also copy-paste it into a secured location. To confirm the backup, you will have to confirm the first and the last words of the recovery phrase.
● The Coinbase wallet is ready to be used.
