Is your Generalized Anxiety becoming a problem?
While a certain level of anxiety is normal (and evolutionarily adaptable), sometimes our anxiety response seems to get triggered in situations where it is very unhelpful and distressing. This can lead to a loss of engagement and pleasure with activities, relationships, jobs, and other aspects of your life. You may even start avoiding situations altogether that make you feel anxious, until your life becomes so restricted and narrow that you are not doing anything! Fortunately, as with other forms of anxiety, Generalized Anxiety is completely treatable and you can learn strategies to cope more effectively.
You might even be saying “But I’ve tried therapy for years, and it doesn’t work.” That could definitely be the case, because not all therapists are using the most effective forms of treatment for anxiety. In my practice, you will learn how to approach rather than avoid those situations that cue your anxiety, so that you can learn better how to handle it, and over time, your mind and body will learn through direct experience that these very situations are not threatening and will not continue to cause anxiety. Read more under “My Approach” for a more complete description of how this works and call or email today for a free consultation!
