A cone penetration testing device is usually mounted on a standard ROV tooling skid. The ROV is attached to the CPT and the skid and sub-systems take their power from vehicle’s power supply. A one-meter-long CPT push rod is usually thrust into the soil using a hydraulic ram. Since there is a limited reactive force from an ROV, CPT’s cone area is typically reduced to 5 square centimetres. https://www.insitu.com.au/cpt-testing/
