No More Paper Certificates with gold foil
BREAKING NEWS!!
#starting TODAY June 7, 2022, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will issue electronic registration certificates rather than the traditional paper certificates with gold foil seals. The electronically issued registration certificates will be the official certificates.
The USPTO will still send ‘presentation copies’ suitable for display and framing, with a gold foil seal, but ONLY if the owner orders it. For new applicants after June 7, 2022, the USPTO will charge a fee ($25, initially) for the presentation copy. Certified copies (sometimes required for use in court) can still be ordered for a different fee ($15, currently).
