In August 2018, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released a report on the regions where harmful air pollution increases the risk of cancer. Their Willowbrook facility alone is said to have emitted more than 254,000 pounds of ethylene oxide into the surrounding areas between 1993 and 2017. Many lawsuits were filed against the facility and Susan Kamuda, one of the plaintiffs bagged more than #300 million compensation. In order to save time and money in facing numerous lawsuit, Strerigenics settled more than 800 lawsuits against its Willowbrook facility.
